Great Lake Trails
The great lake trails offer a variety of enjoyable day rides. The three popular routes include:
K2K: Kawakawa to Kinloch
W2K: Whakaipo to Kinloch
W2W: Waihaha to Waihora
The K2K trail begins at the Whangamata road end carpark (Orakau car park) and traverses to Kawakawa bay before continuing to Kinloch. It is now also possible to access Kinloch via the alternative Otaketake trail or use it to create a loop back to the Whangamata car park.
The W2K trailheads are Whakaipo and Kinloch with the optional 9.5km headland loop trail included for those who wish to extend their ride.
The W2W trail end, Waihora (and Kawakawa bay stop), cannot be accessed with a vehicle. A boat transfer is required if you wish to start or end here.
